Save the date for Dubai!
If you enjoyed WCPT Congress 2019, make a date to join us in Dubai for WCPT Congress 2021.

WCPT Congress 2021 will take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 8-10 April 2021.

We'll be announcing the members of the Congress Programme Committee later this month and the committee will then start to consider the content and format of the programme.
Workshop report for ICRC-sponsored delegates to WCPT Congress 2019
More than 50 physical therapists working for the ICRC or in ICRC-supported rehabilitation centres in countries affected by conflict were sponsored by ICRC to attend WCPT Congress 2019.

After congress, 34 sponsored delegates from 19 countries took part in a workshop. ICRC staff Cornelia Anne Barth, Michaela Björk, Valentina Cemulini, and Cliona O’Sullivan provided a report from the workshop.

Dance rehabilitation brings health benefits
The ability dance has to unveil a passion for movement, joy, socialisation, and boost activity levels was best described by Kara Patterson, from Canada and the chair of the Dance Rehabilitation seminar. Sharing the story of someone who had been asked if dance was exercise, Kara said they had replied: ‘Well, I had fun so I don’t think so!’

Call for committee members for WCPT Congress 2021
If you've enjoyed WCPT Congress 2019, why not apply to be part of the WCPT Congress Programme Committee (CPC) and help develop the programme for WCPT Congress 2021 in Dubai?

WCPT Congress 2021 will take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 8-10 April 2021.

CPC members must be able to serve from July 2019 until the end of the congress evaluation period in 2021. They will be expected to join a face-to-face meeting in September 2019 to start preparations for the WCPT Congress 2021. The provisional dates for this meeting are 7/8 or 28/29 September.

Congress app is now available!
The WCPT Congress 2019 app is now live and available on the Apple Store and Android Play. 

The app will help you keep track of all news and information about congress.

You can download the app NOW to your smartphone or handheld device and plan your days at congress in advance.
 
To download the app:
  • go to Apple Store or Android Play
  • search and download the Conf2Go app
  • enter the code WCPT2019 to access the congress app.
To get the best from the app, please make sure you change the settings in the app to:
  • update automatically
  • receive alerts for any sessions you have made your favourites
  • provide anonymous usage statistics
If you have multiple devices (eg smartphone, tablet), or you wish to synchronise your selected favourites from the iPlanner, we recommend you login/register. You will also be able to use the app to complete evaluations at the end of each session. To do this, find the relevant session in the app and click on session evaluation at the bottom of the page.

WCPT will be livestreaming 11 focused symposia - every session which is due to take place in Room A.

NEW for 2019: It's my first time at congress!
Will you be attending your first WCPT congress in Geneva?

4,500 people have registered to attend congress - for more than 60% of delegates this will be their first WCPT congress, and some people may be visiting Europe for the first time.

If you're a first-timer, make sure you visit the WCPT stand in the exhibition hall and pick up a sticker to let people know 'It's my first time at congress!' And remember to join us at the WCPT Friends session in the Indaba Zone on Saturday 11 May, 10:45-11:30, to meet other delegates who are new to the congress experience and get some tips and advice from more experienced congress delegates.

Congress certificates   Health and wellbeing @ congress
We know many of you require certificates of attendance and presentation to provide to funders, employers, and professional associations.

All certificates will be sent to delegates by 24 May.
  Take time to look after your health and wellbeing during congress.

Earn CEUs from your congress attendance
WCPT has awarded WCPT International Physical Therapy Continuing Education Units (WCPT IPT-CEUs) to congress days and pre- and post-congress courses.

Details of the WCPT IPT-CEUs allocated will be included on certificates of attendance.

Individual physical therapists will need to check the continuing professional development requirements in their own country. They are advised to contact their member organisation, or regulatory body, to see if recognition will be awarded for continuing education resulting from attendance at the WCPT Congress and any course.

Is this your first time at a WCPT Congress?
Is this the first time you're attending a WCPT Congress or maybe it's your first visit to Europe?

If so, WCPT will be offering a "WCPT friends" session in the Indaba zone on the first morning of congress. This is where you will be able to get some tips and insights from experienced WCPT Congress goers and buddy up with delegates who are also new to the congress experience.

If you have already attended a WCPT Congress and remember that slightly overwhelmed feeling then please do join us to offer yourself as a "WCPT friend".

The Indaba session will take place at 10:45 - 11:30 on Saturday 11th May. A further networking session will also be run on Sunday.

If you don't want to wait until congress, whether it will be your first time or you are a regular attendee to WCPT congresses, join the congress Facebook group and reach out to other delegates now. 
Congress accommodation About Geneva
Due to a number of public events taking place in Geneva, if you haven't yet made a reservation we would advise delegates to book accommodation as early as possible.

Use the congress accommodation service to save time, money, and hassle. All those staying at a congress hotel will receive a free public transport ticket. If you would prefer to stay in the centre of Geneva near the lake, public buses are available which will take you directly to the congress centre in approximately 25 minutes.
