| See how World Physical Therapy Day was celebrated |
Once
again, World Physical Therapy Day has been a huge success with
celebrations taking place around the world. Thank you to all WCPT member
organisations and physical therapists who have sent in their reports
about activities held to celebrate the day. This year's "Add life to
years" message was enthusiastically taken up around the world and used
as the focus of the day.

| Health Care in Danger project |
WCPT
supports the Health Care in Danger (HCiD) project, an initiative of the
International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement aimed at addressing
the issue of violence against patients, health-care workers, facilities
and vehicles, and ensuring safe access to and delivery of health care in
armed conflict and other emergencies.
In the past few weeks, several appalling attacks against health care
have taken place. A hospital has been bombed in Aleppo, Syria,
and suicide bombers have used explosive-laden ambulances to kill at
least 21 people and wound many others in the Iraqi cities of Tikrit and
Samarra.

| WCPT Regional summit |
|
For
the very first time in WCPT's history, a meeting was held earlier this
month between the Board of WCPT and the WCPT regional chairs. The
gathering was future-oriented, successful and collaborative. Clarity was
established around the roles of regional chairs and members of the
board elected by the regions. The importance of WCPT regions’ activities
and their alignment and support of WCPT’s new strategic plan was
considered to be integral to the success of the plan. This was a new
chapter in open communication and affirmed the close relationship
between the regional chairs, the Board and WCPT staff. |

| WCPT-AWP & PTAT Congress 2017 |
The
congress theme is “Moving towards health, longevity, and
sustainability". It offers an opportunity for physical therapists in the
Asia Western Pacific Region to present their work and share experiences
with peers to enhance collaborations in the region and worldwide. The
congress will be held 27th to 30th June 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The deadline for the submission of abstracts has now been extended to 20th December: www.awp2017ptat.com/callfor/abstract
