HI launches handbook on early rehabilitation in conflicts and disasters Early rehabilitation in conflicts and disasters is the focus of a set of e-learning materials launched by Humanity & Inclusion (HI). Early rehabilitation for people with traumatic injuries in conflicts and disasters is now recognised as being an integral part of the recovery process. When an emergency strikes, there is a huge surge in the need for early rehabilitation. However, the majority of rehabilitation professionals in countries that experience such emergencies do not have all the skills needed to treat all of the injuries. HI, with support from AO Foundation and other leading rehabilitation organisations (CBM, ICRC, Livability, MSF-France, WHO), has produced a handbook and e-learning materials. This is the world’s first educational resource to help rehabilitation professionals develop and deliver high quality early rehabilitation intervention. International Women's Day International Women's Day on 8 March is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The campaign theme for 2020 is An equal world is an enabled world. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality - to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women's achievements. Globally 66% of physical therapists are female - watch out for WCPT's social media posts on the day. #EachforEqual #IWD2020

World TB Day World Tuberculosis (TB) Day is commemorated each year on 24 March to raise public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic consequences of TB, and to step up efforts to end the global TB epidemic.  TB remains the world’s deadliest infectious killer. Each day, over 4,000 people lose their lives to TB and close to 30,000 people fall ill with this preventable and curable disease. Nota do Editor do Blog:  Conheci Lynda Woodruff  (1947 - 2018)  quando da sua estada em Recife pelo intercâmbio do Comitê Pernambuco/Georgia com Partners of Americas. Ela veio da Georgia State University ministrar cursos para os Fisioterapeutas pernambucanos em 1980 e causou  impacto amplo e profundo na profissão. Lynda foi uma dos primeiras estudantes negras a integrar a E.C. Glass High School há quase 60 anos.  Participou ativamente rompendo barreiras no auge do Movimento dos Direitos Civis em Lynchburg.
