World
Physiotherapy’s strategic plan for 2022 and beyond focuses on building a
thriving and engaged global physiotherapy profession, supporting
physiotherapists and advocating for people, regardless of location, to
have access to physiotherapy services.
The plan has been developed after a series of consultations, surveys,
and focus groups with the board, member organisations, regions,
subgroups, and the staff leadership group. During this process, World
Physiotherapy’s purpose and vision were reviewed and revised, and
several key themes emerged, which have been grouped into three strategic
pillars, underpinned by four core values.
Emma Stokes, World Physiotherapy president, said: “We’re very excited to
launch our new strategic plan. We have revised our vision and present
our values clearly. The strategic pillars that will inform our work
build on our previous strategy and set us up for a world emerging from a
global pandemic and facing many challenges.
“It has been collaboratively developed through consultation with our
community and I believe it represents a contemporary approach that
remains true to the value and ambitions of our founding member
organisations."
The strategic plan is available as an infographic in:

education committee, a new standing committee established by the board
to support its activities.

education committee reflects the diversity of World Physiotherapy
member organisations, including factors associated with geography,
income level, experience and education and practice standards.
It
is chaired by board member Alia Alghwiri, professor at the department
of physiotherapy and vice dean of the school of rehabilitation sciences
at the University of Jordan.

World Physiotherapy accredits two physiotherapy entry level education programmes
The
World Physiotherapy accreditation committee agreed at its meeting in
July to grant full accreditation to two physiotherapy entry level
education programmes, one in Madrid, Spain, and one in Istanbul, Turkey.
The
accreditation of the programmes at the European University of Madrid,
Spain, and Yeditepe University, Turkey, brings the total number of programmes accredited by World Physiotherapy to 18.
The
World Physiotherapy accreditation service resumed full activity earlier
this year, undertaking site visits in March/April, after two years of
limited activity due to the impact of travel restrictions imposed by the
COVID-19 pandemic. Four more site visits are expected to take place
during 2022 in three different World Physiotherapy regions.
