There are just three days left to the deadline submission of Monday 31st October. Don't miss this unique opportunity to present your research and innovations to the world of physical therapy in Cape Town. With over 1,640 platform and poster presentations made at the WCPT Congress 2015 in Singapore, abstract presentations are the main way of showcasing how you are advancing physical therapy.
The World Health Professions Alliance (WHPA) has launched a video as part of its “Counter the counterfeits” project. It is the latest work in the alliance’s long-running campaign to protect people from substandard or falsified medicines and medical devices.
In the video the question "Would you be able to tell a real medicine from a fake one?" is being posed to the public, health care professionals and policymakers. Viewers are then asked to choose between two products and subsequently shown the consequence of their decision: the person either recovers or ends up in hospital.
The project was led by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP). “We’re seeing an increase in fake medicines around the world and they’re becoming harder to identify thanks to technological advances. We wanted, through this video, to confront people with a situation to which little thought is often given” said Mr Luc Besançon, Chief Executive Officer of FIP.
WCPT joined the World Health Professions Alliance (WHPA) in 2010. WHPA is an alliance of the International Council of Nurses, the International Pharmaceutical Federation, the World Dental Federation and the World Medical Association, representing more than 26 million health professionals worldwide.
There is still time to register for the European Region of WCPT Congress being held in in Liverpool, UK on the 11th and 12th November. Hosted by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, it is the largest European physiotherapy-dedicated event of 2016 and will include over 500 speakers and poster presenters from across the world.
The congress theme is “Moving towards health, longevity, and sustainability". It offers an opportunity for physical therapists in the Asia Western Pacific Region to present their works and share experiences with peers to enhance collaborations in the region and worldwide. The congress will be held 27th to 30th June 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand.
