WCPT E-Update - July 2017
World Physical Therapy Day 2017
The toolkit for World Physical Therapy Day 2017
is now available in several languages, with more to be added shortly.
Thanks to several volunteers many parts of the toolkit may be downloaded
in French, Spanish, German and Portuguese. Dutch and Slovenian
translations will also be added in August.
We hope that this will enable many more physical therapists around the world to take part in the day.
Thank
you to everyone who took part in the WCPT Congress earlier this month
in Cape Town and helped to make it an enormous success. If you were
unable to attend you can read the highlights in the news at www.wcpt.org/congress/articles.
Congress abstracts and presentations will be made available via the WCPT website shortly - look out for future announcements.
Physiotherapyexercises.com
is a freely available web software produced by physical therapists that
enables PTs around the world to generate exercise programmes for their
patients. It currently contains over 1,000 exercises for people with
different injuries and disabilities. Each exercise is illustrated and
has accompanying explanatory text. The library of exercises continue to
grow through the support of sponsors.
As well as Portuguese, it is also available in Arabic, Chinese, English,
French, German, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and
Vietnamese.
World Day for prevention of violence against children and youth
The annual campaign kit
has been launched for "19 Days of Activism for prevention of violence
against children and youth 1-19 November 2017". The main theme for this
year is “Ending Harmful Traditional Practices".
Relevant Sustainable Development Goals and Targets for 2030 have been
included to help enable everyone who plays a role in achieving the
ambitious SDG Target 16.2: "End abuse, exploitation, trafficking, and
all forms of violence against and torture of children".
The 7th International Conference of Physiotherapy in Psychiatry and Mental Health
Registration
is now open for the 7th International Conference of Physiotherapy in
Psychiatry and Mental Health, taking place in Reykjavik, Iceland, from
10th to the 12th of April 2018.
The conference aims to increase the knowledge of mental health issues
and the connection between mental and physical health among
physiotherapists around the world.
