NEW: WCPT resources translated

WCPT continues to try and enhance the value of membership by increasing the number of WCPT documents and resources available in other languages. WCPT website A Google translate button has been added to the WCPT website at the top of every page. This now allows users to access every page of the website in over 80 different languages. Disaster management The WCPT report, The role of physical therapists in disaster management, is now available in Chinese. The report is freely available to download at: www.wcpt.org/node/27528. Enter WCPT's art and health competition Are you a keen photographer or artist? There are just over two weeks left to enter the art and health competition before the 15th February deadline.   WCPT is seeking outstanding pieces of artwork and photography relevant to physical therapy under the theme "Diversity and inclusion". Interpretations of the theme may include: diversity of patients and practice inclusion of disabilities how physical therapy encourages inclusion the vast range of specialties within the profession The work of the finalists will be displayed in an art and health exhibition at the WCPT Congress 2017 and on the WCPT website. The overall winner of the competition will also receive an Amazon voucher to the equivalent value of $100 (USD) to spend in their local store. Rehabilitation in emergencies The World Health Organization (WHO) has published a report aimed at emergency medical teams (EMTs) on the Minimum technical standards and recommendations for rehabilitation. This document, a first of its kind, clearly sets out the standards for rehabilitation and provides guidance on building or strengthening the capacity of EMTs. The document is available for download at: bit.ly/2kmUM0D. The document is the result of collaboration between a working group of rehabilitation experts convened by WHO and external consultations. WCPT was a reviewing organisation.

Healthcare Information For All As a supporter of Healthcare Information For All (HIFA), WCPT is encouraging organisations and individuals to lend their support and join the campaign. HIFA believes that every person and every health worker should have access to the healthcare information they need to protect their own health and the health of those for whom they are responsible. ER-WCPT Congress: abstracts available Abstracts presented at the ER-WCPT Congress last November have been published as a supplement to the Physiotherapy Journal and been made publicly available at: www.sciencedirect.com/science/journal/00319406/102/supp/S1.

Changing lives one wheelchair at a time Read the blog of HVO (Health Volunteer Overseas) volunteer, and her story of delivering the Wheelchair Service Provision Training programme, as developed by WHO, in Bhutan. bit.ly/2jAqlU4   Working directly with wheelchair users , the training portion of the programme helped sixteen physiotherapists and physiotherapy technicians improve their skills to carry out appropriate wheelchair assessment, provision and wheelchair user training for children and adults. The skills they acquired will continue to aid patients for years to come. WCPT-AWP & PTAT Congress 2017 The congress theme is “Moving towards health, longevity, and sustainability". It offers an opportunity for physical therapists in the Asia Western Pacific Region to present their work and share experiences with peers to enhance collaborations in the region and worldwide.
