Physiotherapists share World PT Day 2021 activity reports

Physiotherapists around the world have been sharing how they marked World PT Day on 8 September.

We have started receiving activity reports from member organisations and individual physiotherapists and have started uploading them to our website. If you would like to share your activity report with the global physiotherapy profession, please email communications@world.physio and we will upload it to our website.

The theme for this year's World PT Day was safe rehabilitation and Long COVID, and the role of physiotherapists in the treatment and management of people affected by it. Thanks to the many volunteer translators, the materials were translated into almost 60 languages, including 16 languages that had not previously been available for World PT Day. The resources are still available and are important in supporting the work of physiotherapists and individuals.

Board calls for general board member nominations

The World Physiotherapy board is calling for nominations for the election of one general board member. The reasons for the call are because of gaps in capacity and regional/cultural perspectives.

All board members are volunteers and all currently have full-time work commitments. The impact of COVID-19 has placed even more demands on the board members from both work and personal perspectives, with increasing challenges from the need to meet virtually and more frequently for World Physiotherapy.

The board believes that we are missing the insights/experiences of a physiotherapist from the Middle East region.

The successful general board member will be elected for a two year term from 1 January 2022 until 31 December 2023.

Nominations close: 15 October 2021, 1700 UTC
