You can now download social media graphics in three languages to help share your plans and the messages about rehabilitation and Long COVID, and the role of physiotherapists in the treatment and management of people affected by Long COVID: English French Spanish The information sheets and posters are now available in almost 30 languages. Volunteer translators are working on more versions of the World PT Day materials, which will be added to the World Physiotherapy website when they become available.

Physiotherapists play key role at Tokyo Olympic Games Physiotherapists have played a key role at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, and formed the largest single group of healthcare professionals onsite, reflecting athletes’ reliance on physiotherapy. The Olympic physical therapy team comprised 800 physiotherapists, all members of the Japanese Physical Therapy Association (JPTA), and was led by Masaki Katayose and his senior physiotherapy team: Tatsuya Tamaki, Miwako Toyama, and Mina Samukawa.  Marie-Elaine Grant, IOC medical and scientific commission physiotherapist and member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists, said: “Congratulations to Masaki Katayose, lead physical therapist for TOCOG, and his team, who have provided outstanding physical therapy for athletes during the Tokyo Olympic Games. Members of World Physiotherapy can be proud of the excellence with which this team has represented our profession on the world stage during these unprecedented times. “It has been an honour to collaborate with this team on the planning and preparations over four years before the Games. The professionalism, expertise and skills of the TOCOG physical therapy team has resulted in the highest standards of care in the provision of treatment, recovery, and injury prevention for athletes and will remain a valuable legacy after the Games.”

World Physiotherapy offers support to physiotherapists in Afghanistan and Haiti World Physiotherapy has offered condolences and support to physiotherapists in Afghanistan and Haiti as they struggle to meet the healthcare needs of their people Physiotherapists in Afghanistan are working to support the many people injured and displaced during the current political upheavals. World Physiotherapy has sent a message of support and condolence to the Afghan Association for Physical Therapy and its members. In Haiti, physiotherapists are working as part of the response to the earthquake that struck the island on 14 August, killing more than 1,000 people. World Physiotherapy has a strong working arrangement with the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO), and has introduced representatives of PAHO to the president of the Haitian Physiotherapy Society. This introduction will help PAHO better understand the physiotherapy situation in Haiti and offer support to the local physiotherapy community as they assess rehabilitation needs in the aftermath of the earthquake.

World Physiotherapy shares new constitution and regulations Over the past two years World Physiotherapy has been consulting with member organisations, regions and subgroups about regulations to support the operation of the organisation.   Our constitution is the governance framework for the organisation and was approved by the membership at the general meeting held in Geneva in May 2019.   Regulations underpin our constitution and provide detail and clarity on individual processes. The constitution defines ‘what’ needs to be done and the regulations set ‘how’ this should be done.

Physiotherapist education framework in Japanese World Physiotherapy's Physiotherapist education framework is now available in Japanese. The framework positions components of physiotherapist education along the lifelong learning continuum, and provides guidance for physiotherapist entry level education and continuing professional development (CPD). It also provides a description of the domains of physiotherapist practice competence that must be achieved in an entry level education programme and maintained throughout active practice. French and Spanish translations are in production and volunteer translators are working on versions of the framework in more languages, which will be uploaded to the website as soon as they become available.

Physiotherapy pain network launches Facebook group The World Physiotherapy pain network has launched a Facebook group to connect people and promote engagement. The aims of the network are to: increase awareness of worldwide issues in the understanding, assessment and management of pain and the impact suboptimal pain management has upon society encourage the development of physiotherapy in the field of complex pain management - prevention, interventions, and research promote the biopsychosocial model of people-centred care in the assessment and management of pain.

Nota oficial da World Physiotherapy aos Fisioterapeutas do Afeganistão e do Haiti

 

 A World Physiotherapy oferece condolências e apoio aos Fisioterapeutas do Afeganistão e do Haiti enquanto eles lutam para atender às necessidades de saúde de seu povo. Fisioterapeutas no Afeganistão estão trabalhando para apoiar as muitas pessoas feridas e deslocadas durante as atuais convulsões políticas. 

A World Physiotherapy enviou uma mensagem de apoio e condolências à Associação Afegã de Fisioterapia e seus membros. No Haiti, Fisioterapeutas estão trabalhando como parte da resposta ao terremoto que atingiu a ilha em 14 de agosto, matando mais de 1.000 pessoas.

 A organização  World Physiotherapy tem um forte acordo de trabalho com a Organização Pan-Americana da Saúde / Organização Mundial da Saúde (OPAS) e apresentou representantes da OPAS ao presidente da Sociedade Haitiana de Fisioterapia. Esta introdução ajudará a OPAS a entender melhor a situação da Fisioterapia no Haiti e oferecerá apoio à comunidade local de Fisioterapeutas na avaliação das necessidades de reabilitação após o terremoto.

 Desde a sua fundação em 1951, a World Physiotherapy defende os direitos dos Fisioterapeutas e a igualdade de acesso aos cuidados de saúde para todos. Nossa participação no projeto Assistência Médica em Perigo do Comitê Internacional da Cruz Vermelha demonstra nosso compromisso em aumentar a conscientização sobre a necessidade de proteger os Fisioterapeutas e outros profissionais de saúde, prestando cuidados em situações perigosas.

 A World Physiotherapy está convocando as pessoas em posições de poder e liderança no Afeganistão e no Haiti para garantir a segurança e o bem-estar dos Fisioterapeutas, e para ajudá-los e protegê-los com todos os meios possíveis para continuar seu trabalho. 

 Em pronunciamento Emma Stokes, presidente da entidade, afirmou: “Nossos pensamentos estão com nossos colegas e comunidades no Afeganistão e no Haiti neste momento. Esperamos que eles e seus entes queridos permaneçam seguros. “Como organização e comunidade global, estamos comprometidos em apoiar nossas organizações membros, especialmente em tempos de grandes desafios. Também faremos contato com nossos parceiros internacionais para auxiliar na defesa de direitos e em outras solicitações de assistência à medida que surgirem. ”

Recordando a I Jornada Brasileira de Fisioterapia Desportiva

 

 Convite da I Jornada Brasileira de Fisioterapia Desportiva, uma promoção conjunta da Associação Brasileira de Fisioterapeutas - APERFISIO e da Associação Brasileira de Fisioterapeutas - ABF, com apoio da FISIOMED, APFITO e CREFITO 1 realizada em Recife (PE) de 24 a 26 de Outubro de 1986.

A jornada foi aberta para Fisioterapeutas, Médicos e Professores de Educação Física. Um evento pioneiro que permitiu o ingresso do Fisioterapeuta nos Clubes de Esporte Profissional.

Hoje denominada Fisioterapia Esportiva e reconhecida como Especialidade pelo Conselho Federal de Fisioterapia e Terapia Ocupacional - COFFITO por meio da RESOLUÇÃO Nº. 337, DE 08 DE NOVEMBRO DE 2007  (DOU nº. 21, Seção 1, em 30/01/2008, página 184) visa em princípio o gerenciamento do atleta observando se tem histórico de lesão ou lesão atual, trabalhando principalmente na prevenção. No momento de um jogo, como nas Olimpíadas de Tókio 2020 o trabalho consiste em evitar dor e incapacidade funcional.
