HI launches handbook on early rehabilitation in conflicts and disasters |
Early
rehabilitation in conflicts and disasters is the focus of a set of
e-learning materials launched by Humanity & Inclusion (HI).
Early rehabilitation for people with traumatic injuries in conflicts
and disasters is now recognised as being an integral part of the
recovery process. When an emergency strikes, there is a huge surge in
the need for early rehabilitation. However, the majority of
rehabilitation professionals in countries that experience such
emergencies do not have all the skills needed to treat all of the
injuries.
HI, with support from AO Foundation and other leading rehabilitation
organisations (CBM, ICRC, Livability, MSF-France, WHO), has produced a
handbook and e-learning materials. This is the world’s first educational
resource to help rehabilitation professionals develop and deliver high
quality early rehabilitation intervention.
WCPT was involved in the review of this project and has endorsed the materials.

Tuberculosis (TB) Day is commemorated each year on 24 March to raise
public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic
consequences of TB, and to step up efforts to end the global TB
epidemic.
TB remains the world’s deadliest infectious killer. Each day, over 4,000
